How do I bind coverage? Do you need to receive payment in order to bind?
To bind coverage, we will need your written order to bind. Please provide the limits, deductible option, effective date, and payment option (if applicable) your client would like. Please note that the earliest possible effective date for new business is the day after we receive your order to bind.
Payment does not need to be received prior to binding. The binder will include first invoice and payment due date.
Do I need to be appointed?
No appointment is necessary, unless required by your state. Victor O. Schinnerer & Company is an open brokerage program. No matter the size, specialty or complexity of your agency, we welcome new business submissions from all agents/brokers nationwide, with few exceptions.
Can I issue certificates?
Yes. Please issue certificates on Accord forms and forward a copy to our office.
Do I need to send a bind order at anniversary for a three-year policy?
No.
Can I bind a new business quote that's expired?
In order to bind a new business quote that is more than 30 days old, we will need a re-signed and re-dated CNA application. Please be advised that rates may change dependent upon changes in underwriting guidelines or state regulations.
To which department do I send applications for landscape architects and land surveyors?
Landscape architects and land surveyors with billings under $1 million should send their application to the Small Firms department. Those with billings over $1 million will be handled by the Premier program.
What is the difference between the BIII, AII and CI deductibles?
The BIII deductible is a first-dollar defense deductible. The deductible does not apply to defense costs on any claim.
When your client chooses the AII deductible as an additional option under the surveyors' program, damages or defense costs on bodily injury claims do not apply to the deductible regardless of whether or not payment is made to the plaintiff. It also means that property damage claims do not apply to the deductible when no payment is made to the plaintiff.
When your client chooses the CI deductible, defense costs and damages apply to the deductible on all claims.
Why is a VOSCO code showing up on my P&C policy?
CNA agents can no longer access DesignOne accounts through the Syracuse and Melville Branches. These accounts must be written through Victor O. Schinnerer (VOSCO). Nothing has changed from a policy, commission, or servicing standpoint. you are still the agency on record.
Are the BOP and TCPP direct or agency billed?
Property and casualty policies are directly billed to the insured.
We have taken over a P&C account by Broker of Record letter. Why do we need to complete Acord applications?
We ask you to have the client complete the Acord applications to protect your agency from an E&O claim, in case the old agent missed some coverages. Upon receipt of the applications, your office will be recorded as the broker and commission will be sent upon policy issuance.
